We just got a new zipcode.

Interesting thing this evening. We were out at the pool with our dinner trays finishing our meal, after working out at the gym, so I had my shorts and t-shirt on. We heard a rocket or a mortar round fir and hit, somewhere outside of the green zone, but near enough to feel it. We went back to the cafeteria to set our trays and our garbage done and at that point the emergency broadcast system went off which meant we needed to go down to the basement shelter.

We were down there for quite a while and so this colonel actually educated and entertained us while we were waiting for the all-clear sign. He used the map in front of us on the wall and gave us his palace area tour with the map and then took about 30 of us into the Uday room, where they have bottles of liquor and all sorts of booze, along with other collectible items that U'day had in his house, before it was
dismantled. Some of the people that actually had their cameras on them were able to get their photo wearing this U'day helmet. While we were completing our tour, they gave the all-clear sign and we went back to our office.

Yesterday, they didn't let any of us outside the Green Zone, due to the holiday, in which they had predicted there would be all sorts of dangerous things happening. As you may have seen on the news, there were a lot of bombs going off and killing people around Baghdad, and somehow there was some news saying that we or the coalition forces were responsible for the killings. Some of the Iraqi people believe that because we are so powerful, that we should have been able to provide security for the people during their holiday.

I'm doing interesting things that allow me to donnect with the various Sr Advisors to the Ministries of Education and Higher Education. They're not very friendly people to work with so I'm going t try and break down some barriers.

I have two days off this month, the 11th and the 26th. I can't believe that I've survived so far with this work schedule, although I guess this sort of sounds like your work schedule for the entire year.

I'm ok and am probably in the safest place that I could be in right now.

I'll try to be better at writing.
Kim
